Rio Grande Valley Under Further Threat

Okay, it's apparent that everyone in power knows about this emergency. So now the question is: How long will it take?

This is a section of our road just before our house. It's called "Friday" because there was a large landslide there some years back and it happened on a Friday (I'm not 100% sure on that, but it's something like that). It's easily the sketchiest part of the road and has been since the landslide and now it's gone.

We've been having SO much rain recently (and when I say we get a lot of rain, I... I don't know how to explain this other than with numbers. We get around 250.0 inches per year. That's 20ft of water over that many square miles. It's remarkable.). So in the middle of the night the road just gave way and feel off into the river. I don't know if you can tell but it's about a 60ft or more drop down to the river. It's scary enough to drive over much less walk a 2ft strip.

I live in the Rio Grande Valley in Portland, Jamaica (specifically Comfort Castle). The road that I and thousands of others live on and travel everyday is the worst road that I have ever seen. No one has seen and traveled the road and told me, "I've seen worse."

I would like 1 of 2 things. I either A) want the government to fix this road (I know it's big, but something has to be done. It doesn't have to be paved, but it must have some major maintenance (via large road equipment and gravel)) or B) want tire and suspension manufacturers to come to Jamaica to give their products the hardest road test available this side of the Prime Meridian.

That's it. There was a market truck accident back in December that left 14 people dead. Why should we have to wait for more deaths to get the attention and funds we need? It's not right. If you read this and have any thoughts, ideas, connections, or cash, please help us out.
